The OMEGA Valve is the first tunable gas valve for the Sig Sauer MCX. It is made from 17-4 stainless steel via additive DMLS manufacturing, and is coated in an advanced hexagonal boron nitride coating.

It does three things:

  1. Instead of indexing on a ball detent within the gas block, it indexes on the gas valve retaining pin, allowing for four gas positions as opposed to the original two.
  2. It utilizes extended gas flow paths to delay entry of the gas into the expansion chamber of the Valve, slowing down the cycling of the rifle.
  3. It utilizes Parker Mountain Machine SCAR gas jet screws, allowing the user to vent excess gas out of the front of the OMEGA Valve.  Also available are my own Micro Jet Screws to allow even finer tuning of your system!

I highly suggesting consulting the data table and considering Micro Jets if you are using a silencer with modern hybrid technology. With the CAT ODB in particular, you may need to consider using the Apparition Instruments Nano mounting system to intentionally increase the back pressure of your system.

When dialed in correctly, the OMEGA Valve will transform your experience with the Sig MCX. You will experience a softer recoil impulse, a less severe at-ear sound signature (when shooting with a silencer), and marginally reduced exposure to toxic gas, regardless of what ammunition and silencer you choose to use. Please note that the OMEGA Valve was designed to tune suppressed performance. Satisfactory results may be possible to achieve in the unsuppressed state with subsonic ammunition, but this is either unpublished or untested as of 06/07/25. The weapon should cycle some unsuppressed subsonic ammo, but lock-back is not guaranteed.

This model has been tested to work with the Sig Sauer MCX Spear LT line of 300BLK  rifles, specifically, the 9″ variant. It may work in shorter barrels, but only with silencers with high back pressure. I advise users with shorter barrels to take a look at the Mod. 2-S. It may also work in the 16″ barrels, but again, this is untested. At this time, I am inclined to believe that they will fit in Legacy (Gen 1) barrels. See the FAQ for additional information regarding compatibility and adjustment.

Be advised: not all valves print equally, and some must be sanded and/or turned down to fit into spec and may have a more “polished” finish than others.

    still figuring it out

    Had to move to setting 4 to get consistent full lock back. I am still getting a lot of gas to the face. I tried setting #3. It would cycle with less gas to the face but no lock back. I am using a Trash Panda and Brass Kiss 220 grain subs. I may go back to #3. I may need to try other ammo. It allowed me to tune it a little but still ended up with valve fully open like the factory valve.

    Game Changer

    My spear prior to this valve being installed was extremely over gasses. Now it shoots softer than some of my 5.56 rifles. Definitely worth the buy.

    Omega Mod2-L works perfectly - can shoot 300BO subs suppressed in MCX Virtus

    Omega Mod2-L allows me to shoot my OSS HX-QD can with 300BO subsonic ammo on my MCX Virtus and can cycle rounds without manual intervention. No more “single feed” because of lack of enough back pressure to cycle the bolt when using flow-through can. Also, no more getting gassed out (from ejection port) because I had to use standard baffle type (non flow-thru) cans to get enough back pressure gas to cycle the MCX bolt (regardless of the + or – setting of the Sig gas plug). Thanks Jake for making these available!

    Worth the cost of admission

    Noticeable improvement in sound suppression at the shooter’s ear. Minor decrease in felt recoil. Install was simple and adjustment was easy enough. I set my valve to setting 3 with the solid plug.
    Setup: MCX Virtus (9” 300BLK), SRD762Ti suppressor, S&B 200gr.
