Regarding the O-Ring

MKII Valves currently include an O-Ring (a custom gas ring is in development with no ETA whatsoever). Silencer technology continues to push the boundaries of what is possible with the manipulation of early-time flow rate, and some silencers are particularly hard to get working on certain barrel lengths with certain ammo. Examples include but are not limited to the CAT ODB and the Sig Sauer Hexium300. Only install the O-Ring if you cannot achieve last round bolt hold open with your given system, it is not necessary for most setups.

Basic Tuning Instructions

Make sure you take your time and maintain awareness of the condition of your firearm throughout the tuning process. DO NOT manipulate the screws with the valve installed in the weapon, and ALWAYS confirm that your weapon is clear and empty before removing or installing the valve.

  1. (Optional/Suggested) Remove your handguard for a dedicated tuning session with your ammunition of choice.
  2. Ensure that the solid screw is installed in the valve, plugging the vent orifice of the valve.
  3. Install the OMEGA Valve into your host weapon as instructed in the video above.
  4. Set the OMEGA Valve to the lowest functional position. The OFF (ø) mode present on some valves is not a “functional position” in this context.
  5. Load a single round into your magazine, then chamber the round. Decide if you want to tune from a supported stance (pulling the rifle into your shoulder, like normal, better for tuning for the “razor’s edge”), or unsupported (basically limp-wristing it, better if you want to tune more for reliability at the cost of comfort).
  6. Fire the weapon, and observe the weapon’s behavior.
  7. If the empty casing ejected and the bolt locked back on the empty magazine, observe the ejection pattern. If it was soft and the brass ejected at 3:30 or 4:00, your tuning is complete. If it was violent and ejected forward, now is the time for jet screws. See the data table for a general reference on sizing.
  8. If the bolt did not lock back on the empty magazine after that initial shot, regardless of whether or not the casing ejected, you must move to the next highest position on the valve and repeat steps 6-8.
  9. If the bolt fails to lock to the rear after installing a jet screw, you must either install a smaller screw or proceed to the next highest position. This is about balance, and may take a few tries to get it perfect for your setup.

For 300BLK Valves specifically, it is recommended to start your tuning session with the ammo you shoot the most, specifically deciding to prioritize subsonic vs supersonic ammunition. Most 300BLK shooters prefer to prioritize subsonic ammunition. It is recommended to start your subsonic tuning in Position 3. If it locks back violently, vent it with a jet screw. If it does not lock back, proceed to Position 4. Many newer silencer designs will necessitate the use of Position 4 with the solid screw for subsonic 300BLK.
